Boomer Shooter Indie Spotlight

The Boomer Shooter scene is almost entirely made up of independent developers. Driven individuals who have not only worked tirelessly to revive a style of FPS they grew up with, but also strived to build upon and lend them their own spin. 

One of the greatest joys in covering this sub-genre is experiencing the imagination and sheer creativity put into these games. Witnessing fresh ideas applied to old school gameplay is inspiring to say the least and it’s what drives me to always champion these games.

Working with Digiphile we’ve bundled four excellent indie boom shoots all of which have under 500 reviews on Steam. Frankly they deserve a lot more attention. Texnoplazm sports combo heavy beat-em-up mechanics along with its tight shooting. Killbug is an addictive wave based movement shooter that will have you obsessed with topping your high score. Hands of Necromancy 2 tips its hat to classics like Hexen and throws players into an enthralling fantasy world. Wrack: Reclamation is a remake of one of the earliest, and underlooked Boomer Shooters, sporting an arcade style and takes its gameplay cues from classics like Rise of the Triad.

Each of these games are full of amazing, pulse-pounding action that should keep you smiling for hours on end. Enjoy them, share them with your friends and be sure to send your love to the developers.
