Boomer Shooters are video games in their purest form. Their objective is simple and feedback is instant, leading to a satisfying game loop that is often missing from other genres.
A friend showed me Wolfenstein 3D and I was immediately hooked. I played all the late ‘90s and early 2000s staples starting with Dark Forces, but it wasn’t until DUSK in 2018 (thanks in part to the review by KIRK COLLECTS) that my interest was rekindled in this genre.
This journey now comes full circle, as Kirk's video "What's a Boomer Shooter?" inspired my first Boomer Shooter bundle at Humble in 2022. His follow-up to that video "What Makes a Great Boomer Shooter" (above) helped shape the lineup (below).
